Almost 4 months have passed since I ordered my DF from InterCityBike in Dronten … then finally came the message from Ymte that I could pick up my velomobile. So I made an appointment, took a day off work and off I went.

What concerned me most until then was the question of how to transport the DF. Originally, I had planned to take the train to Dronten and cover the approx. 180km distance for the journey home with the DF. However, due to a lack of training and miserable weather forecast for the beginning of January, I quickly discarded this. I could use a trailer, but most are just way too huge for a VM; are more useful for motorbikes or cars. So I just mounted the Thule roof rack incl. rails for bike transport and adjusted it to the VM track width of 65cm. I also packed a few tension straps, adhesive tapes and grid straps. From the inside dimensions, the VM would also have fit into the BMW 5 Series, but the passenger seat cannot be laid completely flat.

When I arrived in Dronten, my new bike was already in the workshop, where I was allowed to try it out and Peter had to lend a hand: it took almost 2 hours, including a coffee break, test rides and instruction, to adjust the seat, adjust the bottom bracket, shorten the chain, adjust the gears, etc. Then we put the DF on the roof. Then we strapped the DF onto the roof. Many thanks to the InterCityBike team for the great and friendly service!
